Some People Prefer Horses. . .  We Prefer Champions!

Snowberry Farm has come a long way since we entered our very first miniature horse show in 1995 and winning our first blue ribbons.  (We had never owned horses before)  We were Arabian-type, conformation and pedigree Enter Snowberry Farmspecific when we went on our search for the next several horses to call our own.  We have maintained this quality and scrutiny as we have grown and developed throughout the years producing show horses, usually a National Champion, year after year.    Jim created and Becky is now managing the Training Center, adding new barns and an arena.  Get an inside view of the  new barn and arena.    We are making every attempt to improve our  breeding programs with beauty and movement.   We've come a long way...and plan on going further.

A closer look.......

Jim comes from a competitive sports background, hockey, football, triathlon/biathlon, to name just a few.  He attended Ferris State College and earned a Bachelor Degree of Science focusing on criminal justice.  While in college he was fraternity president and dorm RA. His path led him to California where he modeled for a few years, but came back to Michigan and worked at Dow Chemical's Fitness facility as an exercise consultant.  Business and sales drew his attention where he has made a career in the Petroleum sales industry.

Jim has a large R judges card for the Miniatures and Classics and holds his card for the Moderns.  He has successfully groomed, trained, shown and has a quality  breeding program in progress for all of the above breeds.

He is also a respected miniature horse trimmer.  It has been said that he is one of the better corrective trimmers in the MI area.

Jim is also the leader of a pop-rock band called The Shaydes.  Take a look www.the-shaydes.com

Becky went to college and earned her Associates Degree for legal secretarial and started working for Dow Chemical in Michigan.  Along the way, she showed cats for 9 years under the name Ever-Eve Cattery with many prominent Regional and National wins and noted breeding contributions (first blue-tabby and white Exotic Shorthair Grand Champions, etc) with her last cat of 20+ years passing away only a few years ago (GR CH & GR PR Ever-Eve's Vanilla Garilla).  She had always wanted a horse, so when she bought a couple of mini's from Lee Crutchfield, her competitive and breeding background from the cats carried over into the small horses.  She has always had fun and has set the standard in the miniature/pony performance industry for "style".  She found her niche' in training and driving performance horses.  She loves it and it Shows!

Becky has been very successful in "running" races, marathons, biathlons and triathlons.  Tenacity and personal effort was a major part of the training schedule.  Becky and Jim were continually  interviewed by local papers, as it was unusual to have a couple come into a race and both win their respective age groups, or the overall race.  They are both use to hard work and personal commitment to excellence.

Becky is now working at My Secret Garden's Boutique as a fashion consultant and has been traveling and buying apparel for a number of years for the above Boutique.  It has given her the opportunity to be in local fashion shows 1-2 times per year.  She loves fashion.

To start any story about Snowberry Farm, I always have to highlight the Egyptian King line because it was our first miniature horse choice in 1996. We purchased a Blue Boy mare bred to NFC Egyptian King’s Topsider, an AMHA National Champion Sr. Stallion – which produced a winning colt, AMHR National Champion Snowberry EK’s Goodside.  Goodside was our first foal and had a consistent and very successful show career.  He has a very LONG list of accomplishments.  Goodside's first son, Good Time, has produced his first show foal.  Goodside has been retired and sold to become the head of his own mare band, but that is where the story started.......

Michigan's Sharp As A Tack is probably one of the most exciting horses we own.  He is breathtaking - Beauty - Power & Elegance Personified.  Sharpie continues to prove all of this and more every year in the show ring and now in the breeding shed.  He again has burned up the show ring with major wins at 2007 World's - Pony Congress - and AMHR Nationals.  He will continue to make his mark both in the ring and with his foals.  Watch for his 2008 foals this year.   "Sharpie" will move us forward during the next few years in our shetland breeding program.  We have collected a special group of beautiful mares to compliment him and the program.  If you are looking for a beautiful "B" horse to show or own, watch SBF progeny during the next few years.   A luminous slate grey stallion who has won in Halter and Driving at Pony Congress and AMHR Nationals.  He was a 2004 Hall of Fame Halter  and a 2005 Hall of Fame Pleasure Driving winner.  He is now working on several others (Foundation Halter, AMHR Park Harness, etc...)

Establo Aztec is more than another exciting horse.   From his first infamous step in the show ring as a weanling at AMHR Nationals, he has proven time and again that he is a true show horse.  He won his Hall of Fame easily by accumulating Grand after Grand.   We see great things in his future and are pleased to own and show this young colt.  He will become one of our herd sires this year - and will be even more excited to see his first foal crop.  Even though the results are a year away, it will be well worth the wait.  Keep a close eye on this youngster.

Snowberry  Farm moved into the next phase of the Farm's evolution with ease, by purchasing their first top show quality Classic Shetland Stallion - Buckeye WCF Classical MUZAK.  Zak has impressed even the weakest pony fan with his beauty, personality and his winning style.  Zak's wins are now listed on his own page.   He ended 2006 as Grand Champion Classic Stallion, Over at the National Pony Congress in St. Louis, MO and 2007 as WORLD Grand Champion Classic Stallion and Congress Reserve Grand Champion Classic Stallion.  Let Zak put you in the winner's circle in 2008 -  FOR SALE  Let the Muzak Mania  begin for you. . .
